The Chemical Brothers Has the Hottest Track on Last.fm

The British electronic music duo The Chemical Brothers is one of the hottest acts at the moment according to the international music service Last.fm. The act’s “Escape Velocity” tracks a 2,985 % increase with 19,466 listeners.

“Escape Velocity” was released as a white label promotional single this April ahead of the album release of Further and was the first single from The Chemical Brothers since 2007’s “The Salmon Dance” and was succeeded by “Swoon” this May. Further was only released this June and has so far reached the top ten in Greece and Switzerland.

Further entered the Swedish album tally at No.56 this week, but no single has charted from the album yet. The biggest hit remains “Setting Sun” which peaked at No.5 back in 1996. That track topped the UK singles chart and the US dance chart.

Guetta Re-issue Vaults Into No.1

The French disc jockey David Guetta returns to the UK’s pole position with the re-issue of “Gettin’ Over.” The track peaked at No.41 upon its original release back in August 2009. A remixed version, featuring vocals by Chris Willis, Fergie and LFMAO enters the top this week becoming Guetta’s third No.1.

So far, five singles have been issued from Guetta’s 2009 album One Love. “When Love Takes Over” reached No.1 in several markets and Destiny Childs’s member Kelly Rowland burnt many a dancefloor last summer.

That track was followed by the Akon collaboration “Sexy Bitch,” re-named “Sexy Chick” in different markets. That single also made the top of the UK singles chart and was the second biggest hit of 2009 in Australia. The title track, “One Love,” with Estelle peaked at No.46.

“Memories” with Kid Cudie became the fourth hit, peaking at No.15. The track made it to the top in Belgium, the Czech Republic and France.

Re-issuing “Gettin’ Over” successfully adds a third UK chart-topper to Guetta’s merits and the single has also topped the German dance chart as well as the US Hot Dance Club Play chart.

When Can We Expect to Hear Back from Cheryl?

WelcheMusic is thrilled that more than 10,000 visitors have read the blog post on Cheryl Cole’s visit to Skavlan. The visit fueled sales of Cole’s debut hit “Fight for this Love,” a No.2 hit in Sweden which spends its 17th week on the chart this week.

Originally issued in October 2009, Cheryl Cole’s debut set 3 Words only managed to survive two weeks on the Swedish album tally, peaking at a disappointing No.42 position. So far, the album is certified 2x platinum in the UK and Ireland peaking at No.1 and No.2 respectively.

The title track, “3 Words,” has been issued in select markets reaching platinum sales in Australia. The track was co-written and produced by Black Eyed Peas’ member will.i.am. “Parachute” was issued this March as the third single off the set, and has so far reached the top five in the UK and Ireland and the question is if a fourth track will be lifted from the album.

You might recall that the Taio Cruz track “Break Your Heart,” was originally written for Cheryl Cole as one of two tracks exclusively submitted for the 3 Words album. A Polydor label boss deemed it too similar to “Heartbreaker,” which led Cruz to record it himself resulting in a Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper.

WelcheMusic’s looking forward to hearing more from Cheryl Cole and maybe, just maybe that other Cruz track will make the singles chart. In that case, “Stand Up” will be single number four.
