In an earlier blog post, WelcheMusic highlighted that Shakira managed to top the singles chart last week with a hit that entered the tally in May. The feat is repeated this week as Swedish singer Oskar Linnros finally makes it to the top with “Från och med du.” Interesting to note, the track debuted on the same week as “Waka Waka,” which means that both tracks spends their 23rd week on the chart.
As part of the duo Snook, Linnros reached No.2 in 2004 with the Swedish rap hit “Mister Cool.” And as we’ve reported earlier, his rap partner Daniel Adams Ray recently made his breakthrough as a solo artist. Adams Ray’s “Gubben i lådan” falls 2-5 this week, and is thus surpassed by his former partner.
“Från och med du” initially peaked at No.2 last month and his debut set Vilja bli peaked at No.2 upon its debut in June. The first single to be lifted off the set was “Ack, Sundbyberg” which peaked at No.52 this summer. In 2008, Oskar Linnros co-wrote Veronica Maggio’s second studio set Och vinnaren är…. The set spawned the three hit singles “Måndagsbarn,” “Stopp” and “17 år.”
Critically acclaimed, Oskar Linnros swept the Rockbjörnen Awards Ceremony this fall earning two awards – Breakthrough act and Song of the Year (“Från och med du”).
Robyn reverse a drop on the chart as “Hang with Me” bests its peak position to No.2. Shakira drops to No.3, while former chart-topper Hans Edler falls 3-4 with “Black Fender.” Swedish House Mafia & Tinie Tempah breaks into the top ten with “Miami 2 Ibiza.” The highest new entry comes from P!nk as “Raise Your Glass” bows at No.15. On the album chart, Håkan Hellström vaults into No.1 with 2 steg från paradiset. Robbie Williams greatest hits set bows at No.4.

The Billboard Hot 100 welcomes Los Angeles-based quartet Far*East Movement to the No.1 spot for the first time. The debut single “Like a G6” has trailed Bruno Mars on the runner-up spot, but he falls to No.2 after being the chart leader for four weeks. Despite being a No.1 hit on the Hot 100, the digital download is pushed back to No.2 by Taylor Swift’s “Back to December.”
Far*East Movement has been featured on hit TV shows such as CSI: Miami, CSI: NY and Entourage. “Like a G6” has charted in Holland, New Zealand, Switzerland, Australia and Canada as well.
Rihanna reverses her fall and moves 6-4 “Only Girl (In the World).” Swift is also the highest new entry on the Hot 100 as “December” bows at No.6. A giant hit on radio, P!nk’s “Raise Your Glass” leaps 51-11. Finally, Cee Lo Green does not seem to repeat his UK success. “F**ck You” only manages to improve its peak position to No.17.

In an unusual feat, Sweden’s singles tally awards Shakira’s “Waka Waka” the pole position this week. The track initially bowed on the chart in May and has already reached the top on two separate occasions. Adding a 22nd week on the chart, Shakira puts an end to Hans Edler’s chart reign. The Latin singer manages to place another track on the top 20 as “Loca” bows at No.20. The track is available in two versions – in English with guest vocals from Dizzee Rascal and in Spanish with Dominican rapper El Cata.
The singer Daniel Adams Ray makes a giant 15-2 leap with “Gubben i lådan.” As part of the duo Snook, Adams Ray earned great success with “Mister Cool” a No.2 hit in 2004. His partner, Oskar Linnros got his solo breakthrough this summer with the No.3 hit “Från och med du” which currently sits at No.7 on this week’s singles tally.
Swedish House Mafia
Swedish House Mafia bows at No.11 with “Miami 2 Ibiza,” equaling the peak position of the previous hit “One.” Consisting of Swedish house DJs and producers Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, “Miami 2 Ibiza” collaborates with UK rapper Tinie Tempah whose “Written in the Stars” leapfrogs 50-22 on this week’s chart.
Swedish rock act Kent returns to the singles tally at No.13 with the double A-sided single “Ismael.” Lifted off the En plats i solen set, the track follows the previous chart-topper “Gamla Ullevi.”
The singles tally also includes new entries from Kanye West (No.28), Seal (No.58) and Erik Hassle’s brand new track “Taken (Still in My Blood)” (No.55).
25-year old Bruno Mars holds on to the Billboard Hot 100 top spot for a fourth week in a row. Before breaking through as an artist, Mars had produced and written songs for Alexandra Burke, Travie McCoy, Adam Levine, Brandy, Sean Kingston and Flo Rida’s No.1 hit “Right Round.” His “Just the Way You Are” has already topped the charts in Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Holland and the UK. The track has so far reached No.6 in Sweden. In the US, the song has sold 1.697 million units since its release. His debut album Doo-Woops & Hooligans has already spawned a second hit – “The Lazy Song” debuts at this week’s No.82.
WelcheMusic looks forward to Taylor Swift’s upcoming album release Speak Now. The set follows Taylor Swift and Fearless, the latter a Billboard 200 album chart topper. Swift debuted back in 2006 with “Tim McGraw,” a top ten US Country hit. So far, her biggest US hit is “You Belong with Me” – a No.2 hit in 2008. Internationally, “Love Story” is considered her biggest hit. Back in August, “Mine” was a No.3 hit – the first track to be lifted off the Speak Now set. The title track vaults in at No.8 this week.
Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World)” rebounds 8-6 in its fifth week. Kanye West opens at No.12 with “Runaway,” one of his highest debuts ever. UK chart topper Cee Lo Green finally cracks the top 20 as “F**k You” moves 21-18 in its seventh week. P!nk is back on the chart with “Raise Your Glass,” which is lifted from her compilation Greatest Hits…So Far!!!.” The track had simultaneous releases on both radio and retail and immediately reached No.51 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams made peace after a ten year grudge. Just the thought of them doing something musically ever again renders a No.1 hit to say the least, but the new hit “Shame” enters at No.2. It turns out that they were unable to match ex-Gnarls Barkley singer Cee Lo Green whose “F**k You” replaces Tinie Tempah’s “Written in the Stars” atop the UK singles chart.
Not even the hype around Take That’s comeback and comeback single “The Flood” managed to beat the interest of Green’s. Swedish House Mafia returns to the top ten with the second hit “Miami 2 Ibiza.” The track features Tinie Tempah on guest vocals, which means that the artist has two entries on this week’s top five. A hugely successful week as his album Disc-overy manages to bow atop the album chart.
Kings of Leon also makes a welcome return to the charts with “Radioactive” at No.7.

Lady Gaga showed off her bottom, wearing a bejeweled catsuit when she performed on stage with Yoko Ono, according to Daily Mail. The singers joined the stage at the We Are Plastic Ono Band concert at the LA’s Orpheum Theatre. Surprisingly, this was the first time Ono had made a concert in L.A. and the event was part of a series of celebrations for John Lennon who would have celebrated 70 this week! On Thursday, the movie Nowhere Boy starring Aaron Johnson premiered at the Egyptian Theatre.
Yoko Ono has topped the U.S. Dance Singles chart twice this year with “Give Me Something” and “Wouldnit (I’m a Star).”
Eminem’s duet with Rihanna remains atop the Swedish singles chart this week. “Love the Way You Lie” logs a tenth week on the tally, but is trailed by Oskar Linnros’ “Från och med du” which moves 6-3. The Manchester group Hurts, bows at No.40 with “Wonderful Life,” one of three new entries on the chart. Darin’s LoveKiller finally climbs to the No.1 position on the album chart, knocking Iron Maiden off the top. Katy Perry returns to the album chart with Teenage Dream at No.21, the title track moves 41-39 on the singles chart.
