Guetta Re-issue Vaults Into No.1

The French disc jockey David Guetta returns to the UK’s pole position with the re-issue of “Gettin’ Over.” The track peaked at No.41 upon its original release back in August 2009. A remixed version, featuring vocals by Chris Willis, Fergie and LFMAO enters the top this week becoming Guetta’s third No.1.

So far, five singles have been issued from Guetta’s 2009 album One Love. “When Love Takes Over” reached No.1 in several markets and Destiny Childs’s member Kelly Rowland burnt many a dancefloor last summer.

That track was followed by the Akon collaboration “Sexy Bitch,” re-named “Sexy Chick” in different markets. That single also made the top of the UK singles chart and was the second biggest hit of 2009 in Australia. The title track, “One Love,” with Estelle peaked at No.46.

“Memories” with Kid Cudie became the fourth hit, peaking at No.15. The track made it to the top in Belgium, the Czech Republic and France.

Re-issuing “Gettin’ Over” successfully adds a third UK chart-topper to Guetta’s merits and the single has also topped the German dance chart as well as the US Hot Dance Club Play chart.

The Black Eyed Peas Rock Your Body Right

The Black Eyed Peas issued The E.N.D. last June and it has so far resulted in five hit singles.  The title is short for “the energy never dies,” which is obviously true as the group’s dominated airwaves for almost a year. The latest single, “Rock That Body,” was originally issued on Jan.15 in Australia. Interpolating the “I wanna rock right now” line from Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock’s 1988 hit “It Takes Two,” the Black Eyed Peas song wasn’t issued in the UK until this March and the track’s not slated for a US release until this month, early May.

“Rock That Body” follows the last single  “Imma Be” to that extent that a medley mashup of the two songs are included on the single.  It was also included on the “Imma Be” single. It’s also interesting to note that “Rock That Body” is the second Black Eyed Peas track produced by David Guetta. Most famous for the collaboration with Kelly Rowland on “When Love Takes Over,” Guetta also produced “I Gotta Feeling.”

Play Overtake Swedish Chart Throne with “Famous”

Female trio Play certainly managed to revive the career as the new single overtake the No.1 spot, climbing four places. “Famous” was the theme of the documentary (Made in Sweden) following the group’s way back to the spotlight. They will need to look out for fierce competition as Brolle climbs 4-2 with “Anything She Wants.” The singer made his breakthrough in the talent show Popstars back in 2001 and has placed songs such as “Playing with Fire” “Heartbreak City” on the charts. Swedish singer Nanne Grönwall returns to the chart with a new entry at No.4. “I natt är jag din” is the first entry since “Otacksamhet” reached No.2 last September. To date, she has managed to reach No.1 once with  “Håll om mig” back in 2005.

‘“We Are the World 25: For Haiti” climbs 17-5 in its second week and Lazee’s charity single “Calling Out” continues its climb to No.7 in its third week. k.d. Lang’s “Hallelujah” has already managed to reach No.2 in Canada. Not that strange, since her performance at the Olympics opening ceremony in Vancouver has fueled worldwide success. Currently struggling at No.61 on the Billboard Hot 100, Lang’s faired far better in Sweden where she scores her first real hit. The Leonard Cohen cover sits at No.12 and appears in the top 40 in Denmark and Norway as well. David Guetta and Kid Cudi’s “Memories” enters at No.29. So far, both “When Love Takes Over” (with Kelly Rowland) and “Sexy Bitch” (with Akon) have reached No.2, while “How Soon Is Now” only managed reach No.52.

On the album chart, Peter Gabriel’s the highest new entry at No.5 with the cover album Scratch My Back. The only other newcomer comes from Owl City, whose Ocean Eyes enters at No.44. The biggest selling album in the country this week is the compilation album RIX FM 2010.

It’s time for the fourth compilation of “Welche Music.” The latest set includes current US hits from Orianthi, Kris Allen and Rob Thomas. We’re excited to include Glee Cast’s latest top ten hit where “Halo” and “Walking on Sunshine” has been melded into one. Also, Justin Bieber teams up with rapper Ludacris on “Baby.” Do you remember Star Pilots, whose “In the Heat of the Night” became a pan-European hit. Listen to “I’m Alive” and know that they’re back.

David Guetta has enjoyed phenomenal success with Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Rowland and Akon. Guetta teams up with Kid Cudi on his latest hit “Memories.”  We’re also glad to see that Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Rihanna and Ne-Yo producers Stargate has helped Lemar on his new track “The Way Love Goes.”

In true style, we’ve added two bonus tracks. Taio Cruz had a hit with “Break Your Heart” – we found his cover of Keane’s “Everybody’s Changing.” The other bonus comes in the form of Bimbo Jones’ remix of Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone.”
